On November 13th and 15th, the gardens take on the colors of autumn, and our Casa de Santar becomes a haven for a weekend dedicated to the flavors and traditions of the region. Between walks, moments of rest, and chestnuts shared around the fire, we celebrate Saint Martin's Day with the familiarity of those who welcome guests into their home.
Friday, November 13th
Arrive and feel at home.
Arrival at Valverde Santar begins with a welcome tea and a first encounter with the flavors of the season. After settling in, the afternoon is at your disposal: you can explore the nooks and crannies of the house, relax, or enjoy the indoor pool, sauna, and Turkish bath at the Valverde Santar Spa.
As evening falls, we gather for a moment of sharing memories and flavors of this season. The first day ends at the table, with a dinner inspired by autumn produce.

The gardens, the flavors, and the table.
Saturday invites you to explore the Santar Gardens and wander through the landscape surrounding the village, at this time of year marked by the colors of autumn in the Dão region. Upon returning to the House, the Saint Martin's Ritual offers a pause dedicated to well-being, inspired by the season.
At 5:00 PM, Mr. Duarte's Magusto begins, so gather around the roaster. There are roasted chestnuts, artisanal jeropiga (a type of fortified wine), and Dão wine, accompanied by stories from those who keep this tradition alive. A moment to join the conversation and savor the still-warm chestnuts.
At 8:00 PM, the celebration continues at the SÍTIO Santar restaurant with the São Martinho Dinner created by Chef Inês Beja. From chestnut soup with partridge to roast veal with oven-baked rice and mushrooms, the menu gives a contemporary expression to the flavors of the season. To finish, a chestnut and persimmon semifreddo.
